SOCIETY FOR TRANSPLANT SOCIAL WORKERS: 2010 MEMBERSHIP & DUES Dear Colleague, The Society for Transplant Social Workers would like to take this opportunity to tell you about our unique and professional organization. The Society for Transplant Social Workers is an organization that seeks to promote, expand and enhance the interests and professional role of social work in transplant health care. Our organization addresses the complex psychosocial challenges that affect our patients and their family members. The Society for Transplant Social Workers was established in 1986 to ensure that quality social work services are available to all transplant candidates, recipients and their families. Since our inception, we have established a strong professional base equipped to handle the complex medical, challenging clinical and constant political changes in transplantation. We believe that the Society for Transplant Social Workers will continue to directly impact transplant decision-making issues in 2010 and for the future. Membership in the Society serves to increase communication between social work colleagues by providing professional growth, mutual support and resource information. We accomplish this through an annual clinical conference, our new website www.transplantsocialworker.org, and subscription to Progress in Transplantation, our official publication. Our members have provided valuable research to the field of transplantation and numerous members are prolific published authors, and are invited presenters at national and international conferences. Members also serve as valued consultants to transplant centers and programs at local and national levels.
